Day 1

Machame Gate → Machame Camp

Day Highlights

Your journey begins with a drive from Arusha to Machame Gate, where registration and permits are completed.

The trek starts through lush rainforest, with winding trails surrounded by rich vegetation and wildlife. The terrain can be muddy and slippery, especially after rain.

Your guide will introduce you to the environment, explaining local plants and wildlife as you ascend toward your first camp.

Dinner and overnight at Machame Camp.

Day 2

Machame Camp → Shira Camp

🌄 Expanding views over Kilimanjaro landscapes
❄️ Noticeable drop in temperature as altitude increases

After breakfast, you leave the rainforest behind and continue on a steep ascending trail.

You’ll cross valleys and rocky ridges before reaching the Shira Plateau, one of the most scenic areas of the mountain.

Temperatures begin to drop as you gain altitude, and the landscape becomes more open and dramatic.

Day 3

Shira Camp → Lava Tower → Barranco Camp

Day Highlights

🗻 Acclimatization day with altitude exposure
🌋 Visit the famous Lava Tower (“Shark’s Tooth”)
🌄 Descend to Barranco Valley for recovery

This is a crucial acclimatization day.

You ascend gradually toward Lava Tower (4,650m), experiencing higher altitude before descending again — a key strategy to improve your chances of reaching the summit.

After enjoying the dramatic volcanic landscape, you descend into the Barranco Valley, surrounded by giant senecio plants.

Day 4

Barranco Camp → Karanga Camp → Barafu Camp

🏔️ Panoramic views of the summit from multiple angles
🌌 Preparation for summit night

After breakfast, you tackle the famous Barranco Wall, a rewarding climb with incredible views.

You continue through the Karanga Valley before reaching Barafu Camp, your base for the summit attempt.

From here, you complete the Southern Circuit, offering breathtaking views of Kilimanjaro from different perspectives.

An early dinner is served before resting in preparation for the summit push.

Overnight at Barafu Camp.

Day 5

Barafu Camp → Uhuru Peak → Mweka Camp

Day Highlights

🌅 Sunrise at Uhuru Peak (5,895m)
🏆 Reach the highest point in Africa

Your summit attempt begins between midnight and 2 AM.

You hike under the stars toward Stella Point, then continue to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa.

At sunrise, you’ll experience one of the most rewarding moments of your life.

After celebrating at the summit, you descend back to Barafu Camp for a short rest, then continue down to Mweka Camp.

Dinner and overnight at Mweka Camp.

Day 6

Mweka Camp → Mweka Gate → Moshi

Day Highlights

🌿 Final descent through rainforest
🎉 Receive your summit certificate
🚿 Return to hotel for rest and celebration

After breakfast, you descend through rainforest trails to Mweka Gate, where you receive your summit certificate.

A vehicle will transfer you to your hotel in Moshi.

Enjoy a hot shower, rest, and celebrate your achievement.
