Day 1

Marangu Gate → Mandara Huts

Day Highlights

Your journey begins with a transfer to Marangu Gate, where registration is completed before starting the trek.

You hike through lush rainforest, following a well-defined trail surrounded by rich vegetation. This section is relatively gentle and perfect for warming up.

Dinner and overnight at Mandara Huts.

Day 2

Mandara Huts → Horombo Huts

🌿 Unique alpine vegetation
⛰️ Expanding mountain views

After breakfast, the trail leaves the forest behind and enters moorland terrain.

You’ll pass giant lobelias and open plains, with stunning views of Mawenzi Peak along the way. The air becomes thinner as you gain altitude.

Day 3

Acclimatization day at Horombo

This extra day is essential for proper acclimatization.

You can relax at camp or take an optional hike toward Mawenzi Ridge, gaining altitude before returning to Horombo.

This strategy helps your body adapt, significantly improving your chances of reaching the summit.

Day 4

Horombo Huts → Kibo Huts

🌌 Preparation for summit night

You continue across a vast alpine desert, crossing the saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo.

The terrain becomes more rugged and exposed, offering a dramatic change in scenery.

Upon arrival at Kibo Huts, you rest early in preparation for the midnight summit attempt.

Day 5

Kibo Huts → Summit → Horombo Huts

Day Highlights

🌌 Night ascent under the stars
🌅 Sunrise at Uhuru Peak (5,895m)
🏆 Reach the highest point in Africa

Your summit attempt begins around midnight.

You climb steadily toward Gilman’s Point, then continue to Uhuru Peak, where you’ll witness a breathtaking sunrise.

After celebrating, you descend back to Horombo Huts for rest.

Day 6

Horombo Huts → Marangu Gate → Moshi

Day Highlights

🌿 Final descent through rainforest
🎉 Receive your summit certificate
🚿 Return and celebrate

After breakfast, you descend through lush forest back to Marangu Gate, where you receive your certificate.

Transfer to Moshi for a well-deserved rest.
